Overview

In short

No cookies, no third-party analytics, no external scripts or fonts. Language and light/dark mode are stored only in your browser (localStorage). If you switch from the Kai chat to the contact form, your browser keeps your question until you close the tab (sessionStorage) so it appears in the form. None of this is sent to the server automatically.

Controller

Richard Levin, Berlin, email: hello@bettermiii.com.

Server logs

For every page request the server (hosted in the EU) stores in log files: a shortened IP address (for IPv4 the last block is zeroed, for IPv6 only the first three blocks are kept), date and time, requested address, status code, amount of data transferred, referring page and browser identifier. Purpose: secure operation and a simple in-house access statistic without third parties. To fend off attacks (rate limiting, error log) the full IP address may be stored briefly. All log files are deleted automatically after 14 days; afterwards the statistic contains totals only. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Click counter

The pages count individual actions, such as “card opened” or “request button clicked”. Only the time, the type of action and the page are stored – no IP address, no browser identifier, no cookie. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Kai chat in the library

When you ask Kai a question, it is matched only on this server against this site's catalogue (keyword search, no third-party AI service). The question is not passed on to anyone. If Kai finds no matching entry, the question is stored without IP address, without conversation history and with email addresses, links and numbers redacted, so we can improve the search; these entries are deleted after 30 days at the latest. Questions with a match are not stored. To prevent abuse the server counts the number of requests per IP address (hashed) in memory, for one day at most. Please don't enter sensitive data in the chat. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (answering your request, improving the search, abuse prevention).

Kai on Telegram

Messages to Kai via Telegram are first processed by Telegram under its own privacy policy, then by this server; to generate replies they are sent to Anthropic (see above). Details on request.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, your name, email address, message and, where applicable, the selected workflow are stored on this server and used only to handle your request. Form data is deleted automatically after 90 days; if it leads to email contact or an assignment, the usual retention periods for those apply. An invisible field keeps spam bots out – no captcha, no third parties. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR.

Email

If you send an email, your details are used only to reply.

Hosting and encryption

The site runs on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH (Gunzenhausen, Germany) in a data center in the EU; a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) is in place with Hetzner. All connections are TLS-encrypted (HTTPS, HSTS). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Kai waiting list

If you join the waitlist, this server stores your email address, the time and the confirmation status. You receive a confirmation email (double opt-in); the entry only counts after your click. The emails are sent via the mailbox provider STRATO AG (Berlin). The address is used only for messages about the Kai beta and deleted as soon as you opt out (an informal email to hello@bettermiii.com is enough) or the beta ends. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR); an informal email is enough. You can withdraw any consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR). You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

No automated decision-making within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place. The site links to external services (e.g. Telegram); their own privacy notices apply there.
